The claimant count in the Vale of Glamorgan improved to 2,585 in January 2026, then rose to 2,640 in February and 2,675 in March, and the modelled unemployment rate rose to 4.4% in the year to December 2025. Among the economically inactive, retired people rose from 14.2% in the year to December 2025 to 16.1% by March 2026 while students fell from 31.5% to 26.8%.
