The employment rate in Gwynedd rose to 77.3% in the year to March 2026, economic inactivity fell to 19.5% and the modelled unemployment rate to 3.5%. The claimant count moved less clearly: 2,205 in March 2026, 2,165 in April, 2,050 in May and 2,045 in June, with the March, April and June readings recorded as unfavourable against the usual pattern for their months. Retired people made up 14% of the economically inactive. Three survey measures agree; the monthly count does not.
