Business births in Derby fell in each of the three quarters published, from 260 in the second quarter of 2025 to 240 in the third and 215 in the fourth. Closures fell over the same period, from 225 in the second quarter to 190 in the third and 185 in the fourth, then rose sharply to 270 in the first quarter of 2026.
