The claimant count in Castle Point rose from 1,260 in February 2026 to 1,270 in March, 1,275 in May and 1,305 in July, and the proportion of residents aged 16 to 64 claiming to 2.5% in May. The employment rate moved the other way, improving to 82.7% in the year to March 2026, and the number of working households with dependent children improved to 19,100 in 2025, out of 28,800 households in total. Claims rose in three successive readings while the survey measures improved.
